Your Ephrata Schools Working On Wellness (Y.E.S.W.O.W.)
We would like to extend an invitation to all district staff to participate in the renewal of an old idea.  Several years ago we had a district wellness team that encouraged staff members to track the activities in which they were actively engaged that helped to improve their personal wellness.  We would like to offer a way for you to focus once again on maintaining personal wellness.  This invitation is open to all district employees, whether you are classified, certified, EEA, PSE, Republican, Democrat, young, old, or in between.  In other words, all of you are welcome.
Y.E.S.W.O.W.
2011-2012 Challenge

Now here’s the deal. Each month we would like you to be tracking the types of things you do that add to your overall personal wellness. For each 30 minutes you are working to improve your physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, intellectual, and social wellness record a point on the calendar under the appropriate category. Start each month with a blank Personal Wellness Chart(PWC).  We have several calendar formats available for your use, which are available through your wellness rep.  Record your activity. Then at the end of the month, report your wellness points to your wellness rep., who will in turn record your name on their roster. We are asking for a $6 donation to have your name entered in the monthly drawings. This will cover your entry for every month you turn in calendar points for the rest of the year. We will draw for 4 prizes on the first week of the following month for those who turn in their points.   In addition, if you stick with your resolution to work on personal wellness for the months of September thru May and have a total of 500 points earned, then you will receive a specially designed t-shirt commemorating your accomplishments.  Should you decide midway through the year to participate, you may still qualify, or should you forget your points one month, we still want you joining us.

We hope that many of you will consider your personal wellness to be worth the effort this might take, and join the challenge to make 2011-2012 your best year ever. You might wish to challenge a friend to a little competition on this journey if that is helpful, or simply do it with a friend for accountability sake. Consider starting or continuing on the road to wellness. Stay tuned as we strive to offer some other opportunities that may add to your health and happiness.
Share the Warmth
Please remember each month when you pay your PUD bill you have the option to add a little extra for those who are in need of a little help to pay their bill.
Families and Students in Transition
We have many students who are living with relatives and friends.  These students sometimes do not have the financial support to buy clothing and food.  If  you have items or cash that you could spare to help those in need please contact Charlotte Throgmorton at 754-7547.  All donations will be put to good use and will go to our neediest students.
Turkey Trot 2011

Thanks to all who participated in this years Turkey Trot!  We had around 90 participants who brought 442 lbs. of food and helped to raise $731 to help the local food bank meet the hunger needs of our community.  To all who dropped in or donated for this cause, THANKS and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
